We are excited to engage in our fourth round of nominations since 2020! As a Women of Color Give investor, you have the opportunity to share up to three initiatives, programs, or organizations that you’d like to be considered for this year’s funding.
Your submissions must meet the following criteria to be eligible for a WOC Give Grant:
- As a WOC Give Investor, you must be up-to-date on your membership dues (if you need to check the status of your membership, please reach out to XXX).
- The submitted organization must be a 501(c)3 or tax-exempt organization.
- The submitted organization or project/program must support the advancement, development, and promotion of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color on the Lakeshore (Ottawa or Muskegon Counties).
- The submitted organization must not be one of the top 3 recipients of WOC Give dollars during the previous grant cycle. In 2022, the top three organizations to receive funding were: I Am Academy, West Michigan Asian American Association, and Tri-Cities Puentas LEADeres Lakeshore
Based on feedback from WOC Give Investors and funded partners, we’re incorporating a few changes to how we’re distributing our grants. This year, instead of funding five organizations, we’ve decided to focus on three. Doing so gives us the opportunity to go deeper in our partnerships and alleviates the efforts from organizations who weren’t voted into the top three.
We’re also moving from a “nomination” process to one where WOC Give Investors are invited to submit up to three programs/organizations they care about. Each eligible organization you submit will be viewable by our collective WOC Give group. Once the submission period ends, WOC Investors will vote for their top 3 submissions. Each vote will be weighted to ensure a clear outcome, which will determine the three organizations we will invite to fill out a more robust grant application and present at our Winter Investment Night in December. The application will also include a request for supplemental information, such as the organization’s IRS Letter of Determination, EIN, and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement.
WOC Give Investor submissions are due on September 1, at 11:59 pm. If you have questions, are unsure about your membership status, or about this form, please reach out to the Grants Committe at connect@wocgive.org.
